    Thanks for this introduction to Allen Ruppersburg.

    I am reminded of Araki’s Tokyo Erotomania Diary and other fake-journals, minus the nude bodies and Ero’s.

    Naturally the narrative sequencing and juxtaposition of images is key in this strategy (as with any photobook).

    The Japanese tradition goes right back to the handscroll, screens, and multiple perspective landscape’s.

    Araki said he was inspired by Italian Neorealist films by Roberto Rossellini and Vittorio de Sica.

    23-24-25 pieces from Allen Ruppersberg are republished by les presses du réel in a single book with the same origina lay-out (25 pieces is published for the first time with this volume).
